Hello! I just wrote you a note, but then realized it was on the page for your son.:) I was wondering if you've ever made apple butter? Chris(my husband) loves it and I've seen so many recipes for it, not knowing which one to try....let me know if you know of a good one.:)

It was so nice to see you last weekend. I do keep up with the blog but seeing how big Daniel grew since the summer was a treat. PS: Ellie told me to throw out the bag of toothpaste & brushes. Now you have new ones- just keep Dixie away. Bo licked Steve's a few years ago when no one was watching but it was caught on a picture. euwww but funny. Love, Aunt Anna

Hi Julie
I read your latest blog post and just looked at the pictures! It's so great to see how you've accepted Daniels Autism and that you just do what needs to be done with that! Keep up the good work! I myself don't have any autistic children but I do have "high needers"( if your google "high need babies" you'll find out what I mean. Then they turn into very spirited children:) where the "norm" parenting doesn't work!!!!!!! So in a "way" I understand your life completely. I left this comment in your guest book cause there is no option of commenting on your blog:)

Dear family Burch!
I don't know you, actually, I'm from Norway! But I just "came over" this site..
It was VERY intresting to read about Daniel! He's a beautiful little boy! I wish you good luck in the future, may God be your strenght, may he give you everything you need for each day that passes by!
Never stop tell others about his situation, there is so much to learn for us other, so we also can face other in the same situation, in a good way!
I love children, every child is a gift itself, i ove to see them laugh, smile, talk and grow.
Don't you ever loose your faith, but stand up for your child, always! A child is a Gods gift. And if you get a child with a special "thing"- God gives you never anything more than you can make! DONT EVER GIVE UP!
Pray, pray and pray!!
With all ove, a young teen girl from Norway, Marte, 14:-)

When Mothers Pray

He was just a little tyke
Two years old or maybe three
Playing on the kitchen floor
Staying kind of close to me.

I watched him as he ran his car
Back and forth in front of me.
And suddenly my heart cried out
"Dear Lord, I give this child to Thee."

My thought went back to Hannah
As in the Bible we are told
Took her little son, Samuel, to the temple
Where she presented him to the Lord.

Then I knelt down and picked him up
And as I held him quiet and still
I prayed, "Dear Lord, this child I give to You
To instill in him Your perfect will."

May God grant all of you His blessings.

Love, Toni

Dear Julie and Steve,

I have to say such news is always such an immediate heartache but I just want to encourage you that God knows the beginning to the end and we can put our trust in him and be faithfull to cast ALL our burdens on the Lord.
You get strength daily to be faithful and that is all we need because it is one day at a time.
Will remember you all in prayer.

Much love Joanne Burwash

Hi, Rob. We don't know yet. I think the doctor is leaning towards PDD-NOS but because Daniel isn't even 3 she's hesitant to label him yet. She wants to see him again in 6-12 months. I am hoping to at least get the results of his evaluation this week even if we don't have a diagnosis. I'll post it when I know. The verses I posted on the homepage are ones that I got right after I found out that Daniel was "in the Spectrum". They have been an encouragement and comfort..."for this purpose I came to this hour.."   God had a plan when he gave us Daniel and our boy has been a joy to us from day one. We want to help Daniel with his "challenges", but wouldn't change him for anything.

Jun 2 2006 04:13 pm
Hi Julie,

If you don't mind me asking, which flavor of ASD does Daniel have, or do they know yet?

Just for reference, our oldest two are PDD-NOS, and the three youngest have autism.

Someone told me once that 'you are _entrusted_ with these children', and it has helped me to think of that. God doesn't make things happen at random. Think of what it means to a child with a disability to grow up in a home where his parents aren't selfish and don't seek their own and aren't self-pitying - but instead use their opportunities to gain a divine life, and thus make the child's life as close to heaven on earth as it can get!

best wishes, Rob C

Hey Julie/Steve! Just wanted to say i love you guys and that Daniel means alot to me. He is and will always be my little pal no matter what happens. He has always helped me, and in turn i want to help him. He is so free from the evil of this world and it is becuase of his love for me that I have remaind in the church. For I always have a fear in my heart that if I take the wrong path he might follow me.
I love you guys,
Tim

Hey Julie! I never knew Daniel had autism disorder ( i don't know what to call it) I'd never have guessed it. He's already spelling words and I think he's younger than OUR Daniel. That's soooo cool.

Well, once again, awesome site!
